Over the past two years the MNIT teams at the MN Department of Health have been managing a DevOps and DevSecOps transition. In this presentation, we will provide an overview of DevOps and DevSecOps, and how adoption of these methods has benefited our Agency partners and the Enterprise as a whole. We will cover the unique hurdles in making this transition within a Public Sector Enterprise IT organization, and our approach to navigating them.

Discussion on impact will be wide ranging, from IT (infrastructure as code, automation), Organizational (breaking down silos), Financial, to Security and Compliance. We will cover what worked well and what we would do differently, where we’re at, and what’s on our roadmap for the future. There will be time reserved for questions.

Learning Objectives

  1. Gain a greater understanding of what DevOps and DevSecOps are, and what value these methodologies can bring to your public sector organization.
  2. Discover a practical and achievable model for how to begin and continue your own DevOps transition.
  3. Recognize ever-increasing opportunities for collaboration with other Public Sector organizations.
