Architectural Documentation

Integration Architect, MNIT DHS

IT Architects work on both long term strategy documentation and project level documentation. Showing Architectural documentation helps the various levels of the organization be more effective. When IT is able to articulate a technical vision to the business and to technical staff there is a common purpose to what IT is meant to accomplish. When done right, the architectural documentation answers questions for staff at the front end and not when IT processes are in motion and it’s hard to stop.

This presentation, broken into two sections – long term strategy and project level – shows the questions an IT Architect can ask in both cases and how they can translate the answers into documentation to clarify the strategy and/or the project.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand that architecture deliverables aren’t just a picture, but are instead documents that provide IT context of a problem statement.
  2. Learn the organization level architecture deliverables that help business and IT work together.
  3. Discover how project-level architecture deliverables provide a framework for the project to deliver a product.
