Plan for the future, set better policy, and ensure wise use of resources for generations to come using Minnesota Compass, a project of Wilder Research.

In this session, you’ll learn about the changing demographics in Minnesota and how you can use data for fundraising, program development, grant writing, and tracking trends in your community. Minnesota Compass staff will provide the latest and greatest data and share tools that you can use to monitor trends in your region, including a tutorial on how to build profiles custom made for your community. Access data by city, county, region, school district, Economic Development Region, MN House or Senate District, US Congressional District, zip code, census tract, and more. Minnesota Compass was founded and is supported by a collaborative of regional foundations with the aim that Minnesota community organizations will incorporate impartial, current information into their program development and fundraising strategies.

Attendees should bring a laptop or tablet device.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Hear about Minnesota’s changing demographics.
  2. Use Minnesota Compass data and tools including selecting data indicators for your community.
  3. Use Minnesota Compass’ Build Your Own tool to customize a profile for your community.
