The critical shortage of IT talent is well documented. With each passing day, there are more people in our IT departments inching toward retirement and a shortage of quality IT professionals available to fill the vacancies once they do retire. How will your agency find new talent? How will your agency fund the training necessary to advance the skills of current employees and get new employees up to speed? How will your agency help your IT staff get inspired to continue advancing their skills?

The Successful Staffing: Building, Upskilling and Retaining Your IT Staff is a half-day session created to help human resources and hiring managers find new sources of high-quality tech talent. These non-traditional pipeline programs tap into populations that have been historically under-represented in the tech industry and supports their technical training with professional business skills, like communication, and career guidance. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the Minnesota PIPELINE program to find out about grant funding that is available and is designated to help employers train their new or existing staff in the specific skills that your organization needs. Staff will also take the mystery out of the grant application process by walking participants through the forms and answering any questions they have. Lastly, hear from current IT Pros on how they have been able to keep on top of the changing tech environment and what inspires them to keep moving forward.

As a result of this session, attendees will gain the knowledge and know-how to address some of the workforce challenges facing today’s IT departments – tapping into a pipeline of talent, accessing funding for training, and helping retain and advance skilled IT workers.
