USING LITERATURE AND FILM TO SUPPORT SEL
9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Concurrent Session
This session will feature an overview of a college course the presenter created entitled “Using literature and film to understand “the other.” In addition, a “reflection guide” will be shared so participants can utilize session content in their classrooms
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
Learning Objective 1: Attendees will be able to understand how literature and film can help students develop SEL competencies while also addressing Common Core and District Literature, Reading, and Writing outcomes.
Learning Objective 2: Attendees will be able to understand, transfer and apply the session outcomes in their own settings to help students develop SEL competencies.
Learning Objective 3: Attendees will be able to integrate aspects of an affective curriculum into their instruction to support those who are sometimes stigmatized as “the other.”
