STEM JUSTICE AS A TOOL FOR SYSTEMS CHANGE
10:45 – 11:45 a.m. Concurrent Session
At the Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center (KAYSC), our work is completely informed by a “STEM Justice” framework. This framework addresses inequities in society by advocating for more than representation in STEM fields, instead working to alter science education and engagement while challenging the oppressive systems that surround youth.
Learning Objective 1: Attendees will be able to understand the meaning of STEM Justice by experiencing STEM Justice both as a participant and a practitioner.
Learning Objective 2: Attendees will learn experiential STEM Justice practices that don’t perpetuate problematic and harmful learning environments.
Learning Objective 3: Attendees will feel empowered to adapt STEM Justice thinking or Framework in their settings and in various time.
