Social Issues, Literature and the Classroom
60 Minute Virtual Session
Learning Pathway: Equity
Using literature & technology, this session will teach about poverty & migration in the classroom. The session will discuss how educators can engage the stereotypes surrounding poverty to create an accepting classroom. In doing so, it will help build student’s critical thinking skills.
Learning Objective 1: Participants will be able use Google’s Jamboard, an interactive white board, to help foster classroom discussion.
Learning Objective 2: Participants will be able to use literacy strategies to access primary and secondary sources.
Learning Objective 3: Participants will be able to integrate the resources from this session in their classroom.
