Screen Reader Testing: How and Why

Through a demonstration of two major Windows screen readers, JAWS and NVDA, we will cover the basics on how to use each one. You will learn the fundamentals of testing a web page or site and the strengths and weaknesses of screen reader testing.

About Dave Andrews: Dave has over 40 years’ experience in the information access field and has worked for the Communication Center of Minnesota State Services for the Blind (SSB) for the past 26 years. He is currently serving as Chief Technology Officer for SSB where he supervises the Engineering Unit and oversees a variety of technology-related projects and staff designed to improve access to information by the Blind and visually impaired. This includes both computer access and access to information. He also contracts with the National Federation of the Blind, NFB, for which he administers over 375 internet mailing lists, and over 40 web sites.
